Richard W. Imhoff

                        

Richard W. Imhoff, age 79, recently of Painesville and a longtime resident of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, following an extended illness.

Richard was born in Wyandotte, Michigan on Aug. 5, 1939. He was the son of the late Kenneth and Esther (Indorff) Imhoff. He also was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Donna Imhoff.

Richard was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte, Michigan with the class of 1957. He continued his education at the University of Michigan until he joined the United States Air Force in 1961. He finished his associate degree at Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, Ohio. He worked for Euclid Hitachi in Gnadenhutten until his retirement in 2002.

On June 24, 1966, Richard married the love of his life, Linda Thweatt, who survives. He also is survived by his daughter, Kimberly (Lynn) Wayts of Painesville Township; two sons, Randy (Jessica) Imhoff of Hartville and Dennis (Trish) Imhoff of Mentor; 10 grandchildren, Marissa (Jacob) Bernot, Kayla (Jonathan) Arehart, Erica and Christa Wayts, Brenden, Hannah and Caitlin Imhoff, and Rachel, Samuel and Sarah Imhoff; and his brothers, Donald (Martha) Imhoff of Maryville, Tennessee and Robert Imhoff of Stanton, Kentucky.

Richard enjoyed woodworking and gardening and was an avid sports fan. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

A celebration of Richard's life will take place at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at noon with Pastor Donald Snow officiating. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the service starts at noon. Burial will follow at Grandview Union Cemetery in Strasburg. A meal will be served at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center in Dover. The family also will host a memorial service at the First Baptist Church in Willowick, Ohio on Thursday, Jan. 24 at 7 p.m.
