Several members of the Tuscarawas County Anti-Drug Coalition were in Dallas, Texas this week for a national conference focused on continued development of drug-free communities.

Local representatives are joining more than 500 students and roughly 2,000 adults from across the country for the 2019 Mid-Year Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America Training Conference.

The mission of CADCA is to strengthen the capacity of community coalitions to create and maintain safe, healthy, and drug-free communities globally. This is accomplished by providing technical assistance and training, public policy advocacy, media strategies, and marketing programs, and training and special events.

Participants will be given the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills, access real-time feedback, promote teamwork and increase collaboration skills, solicit customized solutions, and experience meaningful interactive exercises to promote learning.

“Substance use in our communities is always evolving and it’s critical that we continue to grow and develop in our learning and training opportunities as well in order to accomplish our efforts to execute effective preventative measures,” said ADC coordinator, Jodi Salvo.

Members attending from the Tuscarawas County Anti-Drug Coalition include Jodi Salvo, ADC coordinator; Diana Smith and Lisa Winkler with Personal and Family Counseling Services; Hannah Yoder, Youth to Youth coordinator; Frank Copeland, Carroll County Anti-Drug Coalition; Nicole Dorsey and Kelly Snyder with the Tuscarawas County Health Department; Connie Limbacher, Tuscarawas County Anti-Drug Coalition; Jeff Neidig with Medi-Wise Pharmacy; Brock West, Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School and Chris Phillips, Dover High School.
