Library to host local immigrants
As part of the observation of Hispanic Heritage, Dover Public Library will host Dominic Gangale and Geovany Itzep Santiago on Wednesday, September 20 at 6:30 PM.
The two men immigrated to the US in two different eras of our history: Gangale from Italy in 1960 and Itzep Santiago from Guatemala in 2010. Each one will share their personal decision to come to the United States and how they got here. They will talk about the challenges they faced and the adjustments they made in order to have a brighter future here.
“Even though they came exactly 50 years apart,” explains Sherrel Rieger, DPL program specialist, “people will find that their experiences are very similar.”
This program will be held on Wednesday, September 20 at 6:30 PM in the Community Room at the library, located at 525 N. Walnut Street, Dover. Register online at www.doverlibrary.org/events or call the library at 330-343-6123. Participants can get their “Passports” stamped at this event.
