On Friday, July 9 and Thursday, July 15 at 8:30 p.m., Trumpet in the Land will present “A Grand Night for Singing” on the pavilion stage of the Schoenbrunn Amphitheatre.

Performers Bart Herman, Missy Zickel, Keon Dalziel, Larissa Carrick and Heather Curtis will bring to life the harmonies of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s music.

Over three decades after the duo’s final collaboration, “The Sound of Music” took the Great White Way by storm. This new Rodgers & Hammerstein musical opened the 1994 Broadway season with flair and distinction, garnering enthusiastic notices and earning two Tony nominations including Best Musical.

“A Grand Night for Singing” is a revue with musical arrangements including a Andrews Sisters-esque “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair,” “Honeybun” worthy of the Modernaires and “Kansas City,” which leaves no question about how up-to-date the songs of Rodgers & Hammerstein remain.

“A Grand Night for Singing” will go on rain or shine under cover in the amphitheater pavilion.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and $10 for children age 12 and under. They can be purchased at the box office or by calling 330-339-1132.

The Schoenbrunn Amphitheatre is located at 1600 Trumpet Drive NE in New Philadelphia.
