The Sharon Moravian Church, located near the village of Tuscarawas, will hold a drive-thru lasagna dinner on Sept. 8 from 4-6 p.m. The dinner includes lasagna, salad, bread and dessert.

To preorder a meal, call the church at 740-922-5507. The cost is $10. The proceeds will benefit the church’s voucher program for shoes for Indian Valley Middle School students in need.

“We give vouchers to the school to use when they see kids who need shoes. The school oversees the spending, and the money goes to something they need and not something frivolous,” said Gloria Rentsch, a member of Sharon Moravian Church. “We get a lot of thank-yous from the teachers and the administration who say it’s nice to see a smile on the kids’ faces.”

Past benefit dinners were held inside the church, but due to the pandemic, meal pickup is in the parking lot. Park and someone will come to your vehicle to get your order and deliver it to you.

The Sharon Moravian Church has a long history of helping others. It got its start in 1810. Their current pastor is Rev. Lloyd Gooden, who was born and raised a Moravian in Jamaica. He, along with the members of the church, are focused on helping the community in any way possible. The church also houses a preschool, operated by the ESC and Indian Valley Schools.
