The total voter turnout was 5. 71%. All tax levies passed and candidates will now move forward to the Nov. 2 general election.

                        

Tuesday the Tuscarawas County Board of Elections met to certify the unofficial results of the May 4 primary/special election. Turnout was light as expected. The total voter turnout was 5. 71%. All tax levies passed and candidates will now move forward to the Nov. 2 general election.

“We had a great election last evening with no delays or problems," Director Gail Garbrandt said. "We are grateful to our dedicated staff and poll workers who tirelessly serve the citizens of Tuscarawas County. “

Deputy Director Brian Swartzwelder added his praise for the Scouts directed by Mark Heil and the scout leaders who helped unload the cars of the election workers as they returned to the court house with their ballots and supplies.”

Certification of the official results will be Monday, May 17 beginning at 8:30 a.m. This time period affords voters who voted a provisional ballot to bring in any required documentation as well as absentee ballots postmarked May 4 or earlier but received after May 4 to be counted. The last day of the cure period is Wednesday May 12 at 5 p.m.
