The City of Wooster Recreation and Community Center is gearing up to host a pair of volleyball leagues designed for youth and adults.

The center is currently taking registrations for its Girls Volleyball League, which is for girls grade 4-6. The deadline for sign-up is Sept. 11, and the league will operate from Sept. 18 through Oct. 18 at the Gault Center in Wooster.

The league will consist of four weeks of clinics and two weeks of games with action taking place each Tuesday and Thursday. Clinics for fourth-graders will be from 5:50-6:50 p.m., fifth-graders from 6:50-7:40 p.m. and sixth-graders from 7:40-8:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday.

The head coach of the program is John Buchholz, and the goal is to teach volleyball fundamentals in a fun atmosphere with lowered nets and VolleyLite volleyballs.

The second league will be the Coed 6’s Volleyball League for adults.

This new league will run from Oct. 4 to Nov. 15 and also will take place at the Gault Center in Wooster every Thursday night. Team fees are $190 for residents and $240 for nonresidents with a deadline of Sept. 27.
