The College of Wooster invites the public to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day at the college when the women’s basketball team takes on Wittenberg University on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m.

This year’s National Girls and Women in Sports Day is Wednesday, Feb. 5, and the celebration is Feb. 1 due to the women’s basketball team playing on the road on Feb. 5. An all-sports carnival for youth in kindergarten through seventh grade will be held in the college’s Hot Box Gymnasium — across the hall from Timken Gymnasium — from 1:15-2 p.m., and all varsity female sports and several club sports will be showcased, aside from basketball and tennis.

With a paying adult, those participating in the clinic get free admission to the basketball game and free popcorn from the concession stand.

At halftime of the women’s basketball game, clinic attendees are invited to the upper bleachers on the side of the gymnasium opposite the team benches to join Wooster’s women’s athletes for a group photo. Parents should note the photo will be shared on college-sponsored social media accounts. Allowing your child to participate in the clinic and the photo constitutes your consent for your child to potentially be featured on college-sponsored social media accounts.
