Seth Martin stepped down as head coach of the West Holmes varsity boys basketball team on Friday, Jan. 6.

Martin was in his first year as coach of the Knights after getting hired in mid-July. He was an assistant coach at Zane Trace this past season.

Before that, Martin served as the head coach at Lakewood, Westland, Logan, Liberty Union, Zanesville and Fairfield Christian high schools. He coached the girls teams at Logan, Zanesville and Fairfield Christian.

West Holmes was winless at 0-9 overall, including an 0-6 mark in the Ohio Cardinal Conference entering its OCC game against Lexington on Jan. 6.

Knights athletic director Adam Brately said junior varsity coach Tennille Cline will serve as interim coach for the rest of the season.

Brately declined to comment about why Martin decided to step down.

Martin could not be reached for comment.
