Wayne Center for the Arts continues its tradition of showcasing community-supported artistic exhibits this fall, inviting artists from the region to participate in two exhibitions.

The first exhibition is titled “The Halloween Show” and will delve into the season’s folklore.

“We wanted to create ‘The Halloween Show’ to celebrate the season’s striking imagery and cultural richness, inviting artists to explore themes of folklore, the supernatural and the macabre,” said Adam McVicker, clay coordinator and exhibit team member at WCA. “Through submitted artworks we aim to evoke nostalgia and celebrate the creative spirit that thrives during this magical time of year.”

The deadline to apply for “The Halloween Show” is Aug. 26. Artists may apply on the WCA website.

The second showcase is the fourth annual “6x6” community art exhibit, where the gallery walls show hundreds of small artworks, each measuring 6-by-6 inches. Artists of all ages and skill levels are invited to contribute pieces that are available for purchase at $20 each, with $10 directly supporting the artist and the remaining $10 contributing to WCA’s mission of enriching lives and fostering community through art.

“I look forward to the ‘6x6’ exhibit each year. Not only is it a wonderful showcase of the diverse talent in our community, but it is a fundraiser to support our galleries,” said Sara Brink, executive director of WCA. “This helps us make exposure to high-quality art exhibitions free and accessible to everyone in our community throughout the year.”

Artists are invited to drop off pieces at the Wayne Center for the Arts Aug. 5 through Sept. 5.

Wayne Center for the Arts features two galleries, the Gault Gallery and Looney Workshop, hosting numerous exhibitions throughout the year, all free.
