Herdsman Awards

To encourage keeping the animals’ pens clean, making an attractive exhibit, maintaining orderliness of equipment, and treating the animals properly at the Holmes County Fair, 4-H and FFA clubs have the chance to do their best and be recognized daily with the Herdsman Banner. Every day a judge goes through the barns at different times to check on the condition of the pens and animals and chooses one large club that has six or more exhibits and one small club that has less than six exhibits for the honor of hanging the Herdsman Banner by their pens. Groups earning Herdsman Awards at the 2011 Fair included: Backyard Buddies, Bits-N-Bridles, Classy Critters, Doughty Valley, Holmes County Beef Club, Holmes County Hoof-n-Hide, Holmesville Clover Club, Lakeville Country Farmers, Lakeville Lakers, Nashville Jolly Farmers, OH-4H, Rim Rock Riders, Skillful Squeezers, Udder Ends, West Holmes FFA, Westside Barnbusters and Winesburg Kids-n-Kritters.
