OSU Extension in Wayne and Holmes Counties announces a pasture for profit grazing school that will be held at the Mount Hope Livestock Auction on three consecutive Monday evenings; March 18, March 25, and April 1. Each evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. and conclude at 9:00 p.m. Support for the school is provided by Farm Credit Mid America of Holmes County, The Small Farm Institute, and the Ohio Forage and GrasslandCouncil. This school is designed to teach the basic principles and concepts that are needed to set up and establish a managed rotational grazing system. Whether you have dairy cows, beef cattle, sheep or goats, you will be able to improve the productivity of your livestock and pastures after attending this school. The benefits of a managed rotational grazing system include better utilization of pasture forage, increased persistence of desirable pasture forages, higher quality forage, an opportunity to increase stocking density, an opportunity to decrease livestock production costs and a positive environmental impact. Pre-registration is required and there is a limit to the number of participants in the school. The registration deadline is March 8. Contact the Wayne County Extension office at 330-264-8722 for a registration brochure or go on-line to: www.wayne.osu.edu/anr.
