The Skillful Squeezers 4-H Club was organized in the early 80s. Steve and Linda Close, who saw a need to have a dairy club on the east side of Holmes County, were instrumental in forming the club. The first advisers were Brian Gerber and Phil and Karen Miller. At the time it was formed it was a dairy club only, but it soon became apparent that the club needed to include all livestock, large and small. Throughout the years the members have taken many different animal projects along with life skill projects. In the mid 90s, Lester and Erma Schlabach and Ken and Marge Gerber took over the club. Kristian Schlabach, who had been a member of the club, starting taking over the duties in 2000. In 2004 Teresa Burke, who is a 4-H alumna from Monroe County took over the club. She was joined by Teresa Hoxworth in 2006. Teresa also was a member of the Skillful Squeezers growing up, in which she took dairy, dairy goats, feeders and a market hog. The club now has members from the east and west sides of the county. They meet once a month February through September. They strive as a club to learn but to have fun while doing so. From the beginning, Skillful Squeezers has always been a small club. Members and their families are involved, not just the individual. As members and families come and go they have created bonds throughout the years in which they have become better people. Contributed by Teresa Burke.
