The Happy Harvesters 4-H club held its seventh meeting on Sept. 8 at the First Lutheran Church of Strasburg. It was the final opportunity to discuss show times, deadlines and more fair information.

Cloverbuds, Lydia Thomas and Mya Boylan, completed their projects by doing demonstrations about Ohio. Everyone had snacks after the meeting, brought by the Vickers and Boylan families.

The 169thTuscarawas County Fair was held the third week of September. The 4-Hers had a loaded schedule.

First up on Sunday was the king and queen contest, which club member Vidalia Porter participated in. That same night also had the miscellaneous project awards. Seven of the group's members earned 10 plaques.

The club's booth theme was “The Happy Harvesters 4-Hers Say Thank You to the American Farmer!” The group received an Outstanding Booth Award.

The Tuscarawas County Farm Bureau chose the club’s booth and dairy barn for some of its daily Champions of Animal Care awards.

There were many livestock shows during the week. Club members did very well with their market goats, hogs, steer, dairy heifers, pygmy goats, breeding rabbits, broilers, and draft and mini horses.

Shows included Junior Fair market classes, showmanship, kiddie showmanship, Senior Fair open class animals, fine/household arts, vegetables and kiddie tractor pulls.

Many members won ribbons and trophies.
