Lehman’s to host Country Living Workshop
Lehman’s announced plans for the 2019 Country Living Workshop on Saturday, June 29 from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m.
Lehman’s will provide a full schedule of activities, workshops, keynotes, meet-and-greets and Q-and-A sessions with headliners Stacy Lyn Harris and Joel Salatin.
Harris and Salatin are giants in the homesteading circuit. They will share their knowledge, learned through years of hard work, while promoting a simple and traditional lifestyle.
Food will be available via food trucks. Items from Lehman’s Cast Iron Café menu also will be available to order. The Cast Iron Café menu provides an eclectic assortment of soups, sandwiches, salads and desserts.
The full-day pass for the Country Living Workshop is available for $25. Children’s passes also are available for $10. With a full sleight of children’s activities scheduled, there will be plenty of options for keeping the children entertained throughout the day.
Lehman’s stands for a return to the simpler life. By offering what it calls “low-tech products in a high-tech world” — including nonelectric alternatives to common household appliances — the company embraces tradition and honors the past. Many of the products Lehman’s carries are made in the USA with homesteaders and traditionalists in mind.
In hosting public events such as the Country Living Workshop, Lehman’s furthers its goal of nurturing the growing community of homesteaders and simple-living advocates that make up its most loyal base of customers.
Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to meet with the experts including Harris and Salatin and have their questions answered in the Q-and-A sessions.
For two years Harris has partnered with Lehman’s to create content focused on homesteading, living sustainably, embracing traditions, and fostering happiness and comfort in the household. Lehman’s values Harris as a critical voice in the homesteading community, which is constantly expanding to include more women.
These homesteaders value beauty and elegance and don’t want to sacrifice that part of their personality as they begin their homesteading journey. As someone who forged a completely unique path in this space, Harris’ messages, stories and advice resonate with this growing community. A woman of many trades, she manages a popular food and lifestyle blog called “Lots of Living with Stacy Lyn Harris.”
Salatin is the founder of Polyface Farms. His techniques involve bucking conventional wisdom and industrial farming practices. Polyface Farms invites like-minded folks to join in the farm’s mission “to develop emotionally, economically, environmentally enhancing agricultural enterprises and facilitate their duplication throughout the world.”
Lehman’s has had a long relationship with Salatin, whose hard-nosed farming practices have inspired many to start their own smallholder farming enterprises.
The day’s activities are scheduled to start in the morning, opening with a keynote presentation by Salatin. Soon after Harris will take the stage to discuss her homesteading journey, its effect on her family life, and how she incorporated her personal style and values in her approach to sustainable living. Her talk is titled “Putting the ‘Home’ Back in ‘Homesteading:’ How My Beautiful, Chaotic Journey in Sustainable Living Brought Happiness, Determination and Independence to My Family.” It is scheduled for 9:15 a.m.
The rest of the event will feature speakers and experts on all topics under the homesteading umbrella. Some of the specific fields represented will include gardening, beekeeping, various other forms of animal husbandry and entrepreneurship.
