The Kidron Red Beet Festival marks 10th year
The 10th annual Kidron Red Beet Festival will be held this year on Oct. 20 in Sonnenberg Village, 13497 Hackett Road, Kidron. The doors will open at 10 a.m. with free admission.
Music will begin at 10 a.m. with the Swiss Echoes, followed by Rust Belt Ramblin, Kodachrome Babies and Gary Bonewitz, all in the Welcome Center.
All buildings will be open for tours. Onsite vendors will sell food, ice cream, kettle corn and produce.
Beet entries will be taken from 9-11 a.m. Judging will begin at 11 a.m., and the winners will be announced at noon.
Entry categories are Biggest Lutz Beet, Biggest Organic Lutz Beet, Most Luscious Lutz Beet, Best Heirloom Beet, Best Appetizer/Side, Best Salad and Best Dessert. The food dishes must use beets as a significant ingredient. Gift certificates and other prizes will be awarded.
