HCA offering several art classes
                        

Holmes Center for the Arts is hosting several art classes in the coming months.

—Beginning Gardening, Wednesday, May 3 from 10-11:30 a.m. or 6:30-8 p.m. for $12. All the basics of gardening are simplified.

—Handmade Greeting Cards, Tuesdays, May 16 and 23 from 11 a.m. to noon for $16, plus a $5 supply fee.

—Scrapbooking, Tuesdays, May 16 and 23 from 10-11 a.m. for $16, plus a $5 supply fee.

—3-D Printer Demonstration, Friday, May 26 at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to all ages. With Tom Hammond from Wayne College, learn about 3-D printers in anticipation of the MakerSpace coming to Holmes Center for the Arts.

—Introduction to 3-D Printers, Monday, May 29 at 6 p.m. for $10. Learn 3-D printer software and the general use of the printer itself. This class is a prerequisite for the use of the HCA 3-D printer. Students will need to bring a Windows or Mac laptop (no Chromebook or Linux).

Adult Art, Thursdays from noon to 1:30 p.m. for $60 per session. Session 1: June 1, 8, 15 and 22; Session 2: July 6, 13, 20 and 27. Learn different styles of art including painting, drawing and printmaking in an encouraging environment (plus some art history). Make friends and build community. No experience is necessary.

—Beginner’s Knitting, Thursdays, June 1, 8, 15 and 29 from 2-3:30 p.m. for ages 9-adult for $50. Includes knitting needles and practice yarn.

—Digital Art for Teens and Tweens, with tweens from 10-11 a.m. and teens from 11-12 p.m., for $45 per session. Session 1: Saturdays, June 3, 10, 17 and 24; Session 2: Saturdays, July 8, 15, 22 and 29. Learn to create with iPad Pro.

—Centerpiece Workshop, Saturday, June 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for $15. Bring your own supplies or purchase a kit for $20. Bring a snack/lunch if you like. Choose a holiday theme for your centerpiece: Christmas, Easter or the Fourth of July, or a Holmes County Fair theme.

—Needle Felting, Monday, June 5 from 1-2:30 p.m. for ages 12-adult (younger students may attend with a parent) for $12 per person, plus supplies. Learn to make an adorable, felted gnome.

—Fairy Tale Workshops from 9-10 a.m. for age groups 3-5 and 6-8 for $25 per workshop. Workshop 1: June 6 and 8; Workshop 2: July 11 and 13. Once upon a time, there was a workshop where you could dance with fairies and giants and make art without messing up mom’s kitchen.

—Spanish Camp for Kids, June 12, 14 and 16 from 5-6 p.m. for K-6th grade for $30. An introduction to the Spanish language using music, art and food.

—Under the Sea Workshops from 9-10 a.m. for age groups 3-5 and 6-8 for $25 per workshop. Workshop 1: June 13 and 15; Workshop 2: July 18 and 20. Swim or crawl on over for an under-the-sea workshop where movement, art and the mysteries of the sea are explored.

—Summer Fun Camps from 9:30-11:30 a.m. for K-5th grade for $50 per week. Week 1: June 20-22, painting; Week 2: June 27-29, printmaking; Week 3: July 11-13, drawing; Week 4: July 18-20, mixed media.
