Kent State University at Tuscarawas announced the Tuscarawas County Community Foundation will become the new season sponsor for the Performing Arts Center. The center’s 2021-22 season is scheduled to begin in September with the schedule of shows to be announced during a free outdoor event on June 12.

“Since the Performing Arts Center opened in November 2010, the Tuscarawas County Community Foundation has been an important supporter of our Broadway shows and educational initiatives,” said Dr. Brad Bielski, dean and chief administrative officer of Kent State Tuscarawas. “We are honored to have their commitment continue in a more impactful manner moving forward.”

According to Scott Robinson, executive director of the Tuscarawas County Community Foundation, “The mission of the foundation is to enhance the quality of life in our area by making charitable grants to deserving nonprofit organizations. We’ve always supported the arts as they are a vital component of what makes a community better. We recognize that the cultural and entertainment aspects of the Performing Arts Center are important to the continued growth of our community and align perfectly with our mission.”

The foundation is a community endowment fund that accepts monetary donations and bequests of any size. Those funds are managed by a volunteer board of community leaders, and the investment income is used to support projects that will improve the lives of Tuscarawas County residents.

“After a year without events, the commitment from the foundation will assist us in returning to live events in September and continue to thrive for years to come,” said David Mitchell, general manager of the Performing Arts Center. “We’re ready to announce a full season of shows during a free public event on Saturday, June 12, outdoors under the stars in the Performing Arts Center parking lot. We’ll have live music, food trucks, and once the sun goes down, we’ll project the complete schedule of shows on the side of the Performing Arts Center.”

The Performing Arts Center is located on the campus of Kent State Tuscarawas at 330 University Drive NE in New Philadelphia.
