Wayne Center for the Arts has been hosting regular sessions of Build-A-Guitar, a seven-week class with instructor Barry Jenkins. In the class students work with Jenkins to build, assemble and decorate their own guitar from the ground up.

Because the class has been so successful, the team is planning an open house at WCA, 237 S. Walnut St., Wooster, on Oct. 4 from 6-7:30 p.m. Anyone can stop by and view the made guitars, ask Jenkins questions and learn about the process of making a guitar.

“This free event is a great opportunity to learn what goes into building a guitar,” said James Buckey, music department coordinator at WCA.

No registration is required.

“If you decide you would like to try your hand at building your own guitar, there will be another seven-week session starting Oct. 25,” Buckey said.

The class is for anyone age 12 and over, and fees include all materials, supplies and instruction.
