Opera workshop to present 'The Theory of Relativity'
There are 23 students out of 30 that auditioned in the fall enrolled in the Opera and Lyric Theatre Workshop that will either be acting, part of the instrumental ensemble or stage crew.
The College of Wooster’s Opera and Lyric Theatre Workshop, a class offered in the music department each spring, will present Neil Bartram and Brian Hill’s “The Theory of Relativity” April 26-27 in Gault Recital Hall of Scheide Music Center, 525 E. University St. The production, directed by Carrie deLapp-Culver, will begin at 7:30 p.m. each evening.
“The Theory of Relativity” involves characters experiencing the joys and heartbreaks, the liaisons and losses, and the inevitability and wonder of human connection. This musical is meant to be relatable to everyone, whether one is allergic to cats, in love for the first or tenth time, a child of divorce, a germaphobe or simply a unique individual.
According to deLapp-Culver, associate professor of music, “I was immediately attracted to the content of the show: the theme of interconnectedness of us all through shared experience, delivered in a college-life setting. The various 'characters' (they are not named) are on a journey of self-discovery and finding answers to the really big question: Must we do this alone?”

This production is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International. Tickets, which are $10 for general admission, $5 for senior citizens and non-College of Wooster students, and free for Wooster students, can be purchased at the Wilson Bookstore, Buehler’s Milltown and Towne Market or at the door the night of the production.
