As the “Trumpet in the Land” outdoor drama season approaches, OOHDA officials are looking for short-term rental properties for out-of-town company members to call home while they perform in the Tuscarawas Valley this summer.

Houses, rooms and apartments have all been rented in the past and have showcased this area’s hospitality for the Trumpet cast and crew in need of a place to stay.

Reasonably priced housing options will be needed June through August and would not need to be furnished. In the past multiple cast members have been placed in a single house, duplex or apartment or have rented a room in someone’s home.

“In the more than 50 years that Trumpet has been performed, we have depended on people in the Tuscarawas Valley to help house our actors and technicians,” said Margaret Bonamico, general manager. “This year we need facilities for approximately 20 out-of-town company members to rent.”

Now in its 54th season, “Trumpet in the Land,” Ohio’s official state play, utilizes all the elements of theater while retelling the story of Ohio’s first settlement, Schoenbrunn, during the Revolutionary War era.

Anyone with available housing to rent for the summer or for questions on how the housing process works should call the Trumpet in the Land office at 330-364-5111.
