The 50th anniversary season of "Trumpet in the Land" will open on Friday, June 14 at 8:30 p.m. As a gift to Tuscarawas County for 50 years of support, the Ohio Outdoor Historical Drama Association, Trumpet’s parent organization, will offer all Tuscarawas County residents a special $5 opening-night price by showing a valid proof of residency.

“Since 1970 we have been able to present the unforgettable history of the Tuscarawas Valley to hundreds of thousands of theatergoers, but this never would have happened without the support we have received from local organizations and residents over the years,” general manager Margaret Bonamico said. “The special opening-night price is our way of saying thank you. We hope people come out to see how special a show Trumpet truly is.”

"Trumpet in the Land" is Ohio’s first outdoor drama and the sixth oldest in the country. Actors from all over the United States travel to New Philadelphia for the summer to tell the story of David Zeisberger and his Christian Indian followers as they struggled to preserve their peaceful settlement despite the growing violence of the Revolutionary War.

The $5 tickets for Tuscarawas County resident are available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Tuscarawas County Welcome Center, located at 124 E. High Ave. in New Philadelphia, or at the door on the night of the performance.

In addition to "Trumpet in the Land," the 2019 summer season also will include "The Wizard of Oz," "Love Letters," "8 Track - Sounds of the '70s" and a special alumni performance on July 5 where alumni performers will step back onto the amphitheatre stage to recreate the roles they played many years ago. A full schedule is available at www.trumpetintheland.com.

Tickets are on sale now for all shows and can be purchased by calling the "Trumpet in the Land" box office at 330-339-1132.
