‘Trumpet in the Land’ will hold auditions
On Saturday, March 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Tuscarawas County Welcome Center, 124 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, “Trumpet in the Land” will hold auditions for its 2025 summer season.
In addition to Paul Green’s “Trumpet in the Land” and Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella,” the summer will include a readers’ theater production of Bonamico & Durbin’s “The White Savage.”
“The White Savage” outdoor drama was performed in repertory with “Trumpet in the Land” for 20 years before retiring from the stage at the end of the 2016 season. For 20 years of “The White Savage” and 37 years of “Trumpet in the Land,” Simon Girty was portrayed by co-author Joseph Bonamico. Sadly, Bonamico died Sept. 21, 2024, and to honor his untimely passing, a special readers’ theater production of “The White Savage” will be presented on three select nights in July. Actors will gather on stage to read from the original script to bring this story to life.
Those wishing to audition must provide a photo and resume, be at least 17 years of age, and be available from June 1 through Aug. 16. Auditions for actors and singers should include a one- to two-minute memorized monologue and a minimum of 16 bars of a song including sheet music or digital accompaniment. Dancers must provide a dance reel and technicians a resume of work experience including references.
