"Frequency"
The story of a cop who finds he can communicate with his dead father —
who is still alive 30 years in the past — through some quirky
manifestation of the Northern lights. The two connect on their ham radio
and go on to change past events, and unwittingly change the present. We
don't want to divulge the whole plot of the story, because it would ruin
too much of the movie. Dennis Quaid stars as the father and Jim Caveziel
is the son.
DM: I found this movie riveting. Last year when I saw "The Sixth Sense"
I knew immediately it would by my favorite movie of the year. It was.
This is the same way, on maybe a little lesser scale. This will end up
being in my top five.
DT: This is a movie that deserves, nay demands your undivided attention.
If you're one of those who quilts or knits during a movie to pass the
time, stay at home. While not difficult to understand, one could get lost
in the plot if they aren't experienced watching time travel movies.
DM: Forget that, just pay attention and you'll have no problem following
this wonderful, fast-paced and gripping story. While time travel is
central to the plot, it is so much more than that. It's a
mystery-thriller-relationship movie that flows quickly from one era to
the next.
DT: The performances by Quaid and Caveziel were believable, in the midst
of an incredible plot. That's probably what makes the movie work.
DM: And this one does work. It's unusual to find a film with this much
quality this early in the movie season.
Score: DM 85, DT 76
