"Mulan" Delivers

"Mulan" (G)
DM: The first thing we have to mention is the part with the Huns charging down the mountain on horseback.
That was too cool.
DT: Indeed it was.
That being said, I'd like to point out that "Mulan" is the story of a girl who sneaks off to war in place of her father and while it does follow the same formula as the last half-dozen Disney films, it's still a good formula and it'll entertain the kids.
DM: Hey, I liked it.
I'd go see it again just to listen to Eddie Murphy as Mulan's weaselly, dragon sidekick Mushu.
He stole every scene he was in and and was worth the price of admission alone.
Too bad that so many of his one-line zingers fly right over the heads of most youngsters.
DT:True, but Ithink that some of the jokes are there to help the parents enjoy the 'toon as well.
DM: I'll give you that.
Disney tends to gear its movies today toward adults, anyway.
DT: Another thingI'd like to mention is that the songs, while fine, weren't very Chinese.
DM: Come to think of it, neither were the accents.
DT: Overall, I think it's a well-spent 88 minutes.
Score: DM 79, DT 75
