The day I accomplished nothing and everything

The day I accomplished nothing and everything

Today I feel like doing absolutely nothing. My mind is blank, and that's not good when I need to be typing up this blog. So, in honor of this blank feeling, I will elaborate on what I do on days like this, and how I get done what needs to get done. Bear with me!

I got up this morning with all sorts of intentions, some of which will come to fruition. I have many projects I need to get started on. I knew I needed to blog today, so to prepare for it, I lazed around on Facebook. Minutes were desperately slipping by for my deadline, so I dragged my cursor to the Facebook logout button and half-heartedly clicked it. Usually, my blog comes pouring out of me, but that chilaquiles recipe on my friend Leslie Limon's blog looked much more interesting than typing about my unable-to-get-motivated-day. Leslie puts out a fantastic blog with mouth-watering Mexican food. I'm hooked on them. So, I perused her lovely site, jotted down the chilaquile recipe, read a little more, and finally clicked off it. It was a good detour.

Do you ever feel like the Queen of Procrastination? I need a crown, or trophy engraved with this saying. I fear I've passed it on to at least one of my children. My daughter who is in college, called me yesterday with this exciting news. She said breathlessly, "Mom! I got an A on this really important paper – they said it was excellent!" Well, I was very happy for her, then she laid on me that she had written it up in about a half an hour the night before. Like mother like daughter. At least she got an A on it

Right now salsa music is blaring out of my iTunes. First a little Rey Ruiz, now some Sonora Dinamita – always good to get your juices flowing. About five minutes ago I sang along to James Taylor's ever-bubbly, Whenever I See Your Smiling Face, at the top of my lungs. I did stretch my lungs out, and it gave me more than a little love for Sweet Baby James. I always did like those cheesy songs from the '70s.

It seems with all this procrastination, I have actually typed up a blog entry. Maybe all you need to get your day going is to sing at the top of your lungs while surfing the Web, and drinking some much needed head-exploding coffee. Oh yeah, I neglected to mention the salsa dance around the living room. It's a good thing this blog doesn't require me to be in front of the camera. That, folks, would be a literal LOL.
