After the pandemic caused the annual Mt. Eaton Days to be an abbreviated version, the two-day event will be back in full swing this year on Friday and Saturday, June 4-5 in the village’s downtown area.

Admission is free to the event, which will run from 8 a.m. to dark on both days.

Nearly all local Mt. Eaton merchants will offer some savings in their respective stores.

While the savings and prizes are nice, the annual event also is a gift from the community to people in the region who are in need of support.

Every year Mt. Eaton Days serves as a way for the community to raise money for a local family suffering from a hardship. The proceeds from this year’s Mt. Eaton Days annual benefit auction will be presented to a local widow.

Once again, there will be the culmination of a promotion that began Jan. 1 in which one person will win a pony, along with a harness and cart for the pony to pull. Since January one raffle ticket has been given to any patron who spent $100 at a participating business, and it will continue through June 5. Then a winner will be chosen on that day at 2 p.m. The winner need not be present to win.

Participating businesses include Kaycee Western Store, Mt. Eaton Elevator, Mt. Eaton Greenhouse, Mt. Eaton Hardware, Mt. Eaton Harness & Shoe, Mt. Eaton Variety, Precision Power Equipment, Red Tomato, Spector’s Store, Weaver Service & Repair, Yoder Service & Supply, and Yoder Sharpening.

Meanwhile, each of the participating stores will offer their own savings. Each business also has donated a prize to add to the raffle.

The benefit auction will take place Saturday, June 5 at 9 a.m. at Town Hall.

The fun will start Friday, June 4 with in-store sales. Sausage sandwiches will be served beginning at 5:30 a.m., and Lerch’s Donuts and Country Road Ice Cream will be onsite.

The volleyball action will heat up on Saturday when teams will participate in an all-day tournament at Mt. Eaton Elementary School, starting at 8:30 a.m. Starting at 10 a.m., carryout will be available from a chicken barbecue with a dining area also provided.

A hitching post parking area for visitors coming to town by buggy will be available. Additional hitching rails are located behind the elevator in the downtown area.

The Mt. Eaton Business Association welcomes all to come enjoy the day.
