Mt. Eaton merchants to hold annual spring sale

With the return of spring, many Holmes County residents are cleaning out their homes. Mt. Eaton businesses are prepared to do the same in their stores. The Mt. Eaton Business Association has announced that its annual Spring Sale will be held on Thursday, April 7. For the last seven years, local shoppers have benefitted from Mt. Eaton commerce during the sale window. This year, that window is wide open. According to John Miller, head of the association and Mt. Eaton Hardware, shoppers may expect the great deals that they’ve come to know all day long. “This year, we’ll be offering our sales all day,” Miller said. “This is an opportunity for the people who like to shop local.” The Spring Sale, first held in 2009, has grown more popular by the year. “More and more people are showing up,” Miller said of recent turnouts to the sale. “I’m expecting it to be on par with the past.” As in years past, Mt. Eaton mainstays Mt. Eaton Harness, Mt. Eaton Grain House, Red Tomato Market, B&R Engine, S&M Bike Shop, Mt. Eaton Elevator, Mt. Eaton Greenhouse and Spector’s will be participating. Miller plans to keep his customers satisfied with free refreshments throughout the day and assumes other businesses will be doing the same. “In the morning we’ll have coffee and donuts, and then throughout the day we’ll have fresh popcorn for the people coming through,” Miller said. Participating Mt. Eaton businesses will also be open extended hours. “I can’t speak for the other shops, but as for us, we’ll be open until 8 p.m.” Miller said. The Spring Sale will be concluded by the announcement of the winners of the Mt. Eaton Bucks. Mt. Eaton Bucks, store credit redeemable at any of the participating Mt. Eaton establishments, will be awarded by Miller at Mt. Eaton Hardware. Tickets for the drawing of the prized Mt. Eaton Bucks will be awarded for every $25 spent by the shopper. Each business participating in the Spring Sale has contributed to the grand total of $400 which will be distributed amongst a few lucky shoppers.
