The New Philadelphia Business and Community Association (NPBCA) was recently awarded a charitable grant of $9,000 from the Stark Community Foundation through the Credit Bureau, Tuscarawas County, Small Business Fund. The monies from the grant, titled Driving Downtown Forward, will be used by the association to fulfill its consistent mission to strengthen and promote existing businesses, develop new businesses and market the area to residents, visitors, government and businesses. As defined “Drive- (verb) to strive vigorously towards a goal or objective,” exemplifies the energy exerted by the association in satisfying its goal to improve business growth, education and productivity, which in turn improves the quality of life in New Philadelphia. Their upcoming events include the spring clean-up and flower project within the downtown and also a Merchants and Artists Walk May 15. NPBCA will sell banners which will provide advertising for businesses while providing a unified décor to the South Broadway bridge, and a member brochure is slated to be produced shortly also as a marketing tool. The New Philadelphia Business and Community Association holds monthly general membership meetings the first Thursday, at 8 a.m., in the Tuscarawas County Visitors and Convention Bureau, located at 124 East High Ave. All members of the community are encouraged to attend.
