ProVia expanding to Wayne County with Dalton purchases
ProVia’s growth over the past years has been incredible, and soon it will add to that growth, having purchased a pair of properties in Wayne County.
ProVia announced its intent to purchase two Dalton real estate properties from Toop and Toop II LLC. The main building, located at 630 Henry St., is approximately 303,000 square feet of retail and manufacturing space located on 24 ½ acres and has high visibility from U.S. Route 30. The other 4-acre property is 1.3 miles away at 1543 Zuercher Road and contains 22,500 square feet of warehouse.
“We’ve been looking for property in Wayne County for a little while now,” said Joe Klink, executive director of corporate engagement at ProVia. “As we continue to grow, part of the consideration is the workforce. When you look at it from a qualified workforce standpoint, we were looking at Wayne County, and while we were doing so, we were approached with this opportunity. With our continued growth at our current facilities, that is what triggered us to begin looking at Wayne County even before these properties were brought to our attention.”
That discussion led to the purchase of the two properties from Toop and Toop II LLC. According to Klink, both facilities offer excellent access to state Route 30.
Klink said the larger building that currently is being rented by P. Graham Dunn will more than likely serve as a steel door production facility while the second building may be used as a warehouse where deliveries of incoming material will be brought.
Klink said they have a similar setup in their large Strasburg facility, which is accompanied by a smaller warehouse.
ProVia plans to utilize these properties for manufacturing as part of ongoing facilities expansion efforts in alignment with the company’s growth. The main building will be renovated as necessary to prepare for future production needs. Klink said the property will not be up and running any time soon because there is a great deal of renovation and the necessary equipment needs to be ordered, and that process will be time-consuming.
As for the number of jobs this will create, Klink said it is far too early in the process to determine that.
“The structures and the location are ideal for what we want to do,” Klink said. “But we are far too early in the process to know a lot of the details.”
This transaction will not include the P. Graham Dunn business operations, which have been operating under a lease agreement at the premises. The adjacent Silver Linden Park and Playground property also will not be included in the purchase.
The Dalton properties represent the first footprint for ProVia in Wayne County, a location chosen for its supportive business climate and qualified local workforce.
“This will eventually provide a lot of employment opportunities for people in and around Wayne County,” Klink said. “We’re excited to become part of the Wayne County community.”
Klink said the hope is to bring on prospective employees and introduce them to the steel door manufacturing experience at their current facilities so they can hit the ground running.
