All Colors Together gathering and family camp to be held in Millersburg
Gateway Fellowship will be hosting a very special cross-cultural event on August 12-14. The name of the gathering is called All Colors Together, which provides an opportunity for indigenous (native) peoples to gather together to pray, worship, and discuss issues relevant to the Native American culture.
Coordinator, Ken Brandes, president of Recon Ministry of Wadsworth, Ohio states that the purpose of the gathering is to bring respect and reconciliation between native tribes, other people groups and God. It also promises to be a fun weekend for the whole family with camping, drumming and inter-tribal dancing.
Opening the weekend on Friday evening at 7 p.m. is RainSong (Terry and Darlene Wildman) with a worship concert. The Wildmans, currently of Arizona, travel across North America and abroad sharing the message of the Creators Son with their music, storytelling, and teaching. Their music style is a folk-rock blend with Native American instruments and melodies. They will also be in concert on Sunday morning, 10 a.m. at the church. More information on RainSong can be found online at http://www.rainsongmusic.com.
Teaching circles and discussions begin on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and will focus on both secular and religious issues affecting the Native American culture. All those who have roots in this people group are encouraged to come and reconnect with the heritage. All others are invited to come and learn more about this culture and find out how it fits with Christianity. Professor L. Daniel Hawk, Ph.D., professor of Old Testament at Ashland Theological Seminary will be leading these sessions. Other activities are scheduled throughout the day on Saturday.
Gateway Fellowship is located on State Route 241, one mile north of the square in Millersburg. Larry Hasemeyer is pastor. For more information, contact Ken Brandes at 440-376-0288; kenbrandes@wadsnet.com or brandesken@gmail.com.
