Mennonite Mission Network executive director to speak
Stanley W. Green, executive director of Mennonite Mission Network, will speak at Walnut Creek Mennonite Church, 2619 CR 144, Sugarcreek, on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 10:30 a.m.As executive director, Green articulates the Mennonite Mission Network vision that every congregation and all parts of the church will be fully engaged in God’s mission, reaching from across the street and around the world.
In his messages, Green draws on his various life experiences. Often using storytelling, Green captures audiences with his presentations and commitment to mission.
Green served as president of the former Mennonite Board of Missions (MBM) from 1993 until appointed to his present position. He began his tenure with MBM by leading the mission agency through a period of restructuring and a refocusing of its vision and values.
Green began studies in 1986 at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif., where he completed a master’s degree in missiology and worked on doctoral studies. He served as president of the Council of Anabaptists in Los Angeles, as pastor of Faith Mennonite Church in Downey, Calif., and as an urban missiologist in Los Angeles with MBM’s Evangelism and Church Development department.
Originally from South Africa, Green served in pastorates at congregational churches in his home country. Green and his family also served a five-year missionary term in Jamaica, working with the United Church of Jamaica and Grand Cayman.
