St. Timothy’s Church will host a free Advent organ recital by Chad Pittman on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 11:30 a.m.

Pittman is a full-time musician, conductor, educator and organist. Active as a presenter and clinician in the greater Ohio choral community and beyond, he is the newly appointed director of choruses for the Canton Symphony Orchestra.

Pittman also is director of choirs for Northwest High School in Stark County, where he administers an active choral program of seven choirs, serves as music director of the annual musical and assists at Northwest Middle School.

As director of music and organist for St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Massillon, he leads the ensembles, facilitates a weekly program of guest artists in worship and coordinates Cathedral Concerts in the Evening, the church's newly established professional concert series.

Pittman is co-founder of Two Men and a Bench, a traveling organ duo, with duet partner Mark Thewes. Since 2013 the two have presented concerts in churches and concert halls across the country. He also is active in the Paderewski Duo, a collaboration with violinist Wanda Sobieska.

Born in North Carolina and raised in Northeast Ohio, Pittman is currently a doctoral student in music education at Kent State University and studies in the summer choral conducting program at Michigan State University. He holds the Master of Educational Administration from Cleveland State University and a Bachelor of Music Education and Organ from the Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music.

St. Timothy’s remaining Wednesday Advent organ recitals will feature Loren C. Veigel, Michael Lewis and Levi Muriuki. Each will be followed by the mid-week worship service at 12:30 p.m., which guests are welcome to attend.
