Trinity Shrove Tuesday pancake dinner at Trinity United Methodist in Orrville

Shrove Tuesday, also know as Fat Tuesday or Pancake Day, is the day in the Christian calendar before the Lenten season begins. The tradition started because those preparing to fast for the next 40 days of Lent had to find a way to use up ingredients that would typically go bad over that time, and made pancakes or donuts. The purpose of fasting during Lent is to remove distractions, draw closer to God and seek His will for our lives. As a result of this tradition of Shrove Tuesday, Trinity United Methodist Church has turned this celebration into one its most successful youth missions fundraisers. The meal will be served Tuesday, Feb. 16, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1556 Rex Drive, Orrville. The suggested donation is $5 for adults and $3.50 for kids under 10. All proceeds benefit the youth mission trip. Dinners include pancakes, sausage, applesauce and beverage.
