Westminster doubles musical pleasure April 16 and 18

The dual piano team of Nancy Davis and Sharon Johnson: Music by Two, will be returning to Wooster to present a duo piano recital on Friday evening, April 16 and for a special joint performance with The Cantate Singers on Sunday afternoon, April 18. The Friday evening recital will begin at 7 p.m. in Mackey Hall at the Westminster Church House, 353 E. Pine St. This event will feature two-piano, four hands works by Norman Dello Joio, Francis Poulenc and Amy Beach, with the Music by Two duo playing on two Steinway grand pianos. The Sunday afternoon performance with The Cantate Singers will also be at Mackey Hall and will begin at 3:30 p.m. This performance will include sacred anthems. All the works to be performed are scored for chorus and dual pianos, with the “Music by Two” duo as the featured accompaniments. The Sunday, April 18, performance features the Cantate Singers, a 50-voice select choir comprised of vocalists from Wayne, Holmes, Stark and Medina counties. The Cantate Singers was founded in 1992 by Freeman Lehman and has performed throughout northeastern Ohio. The choir is now under the direction of William Mateer. There is no admission charge for these events, but a freewill collection will be taken to help defray the costs. Westminster Presbyterian Church has handicap accessible facilities and free parking available across the street as well.
