4-H demonstration contest results

                        
The 2013 Tuscarawas County 4-H Demonstration Contest was held July 9 at the First Christian Church in New Philadelphia. Individuals and teams were evaluated on their presentation. The first, second and third place winners in the Junior Division and the first and second place winners in the Senior Division will compete at the Ohio State Fair July 31, where they will compete against other youth throughout the state. Junior Division (under 14 as of Jan. 1) - First Place: Jonah McGlumphy of Stone Creek, member of Stonecreek Peas & Carrots, title of demonstration, How to Put the Yo in Yo-Yo - Second Place: Aden Smith of Dover, member of St. John’s 4-H’ers, title of demonstration, Under Construction: Dirt Dessert - Third Place: Laney Barger of Gnadenhutten, member of Thunder Valley Pioneers, title of demonstration, How to Make Homemade Bread - Fourth Place: Mackenzie Peffer of Zoar, member of Tusky Valley Farmers, title of demonstration, Making a Serger Quilt - Fourth Place: Abby Sprowl of Port Washington, member of Red Rock Rebels, title of demonstration, Chinchilla Ownership - Fifth Place: Kieran Gitonga of Uhrichsville, member of Vision of Hope, title of demonstration, Principles of Flight Senior Division (14 and over as of Jan. 1) - First Place: Taylor Troyer of Sugarcreek, member of New Horizons, title of demonstration, Picture This - Second Place: Michala Metzcar of Zoarville, member of Atwood Lakers, title of demonstration, Trash to Treasure - Third Place: Micaliah Peffer of Zoar, member of Tusky Valley Farmers, title of demonstration, Making Unique Scarfs or Wraps to Highlight a Dress-Up Dress - Fourth Place: Taylor Sprowl of Port Washington, member of Red Rock Rebels, title of demonstration, Ducted Out Trophies for the contest were donated by the Tuscarawas County 4-H Committee. Judges were Carol Gregor, Tammy Keating, Patty Maag and Dorothy Yoder.
