The Ohio State Alumni Club of Tuscarawas County will hold a Game Watch Tailgate Party Nov. 17 to raise scholarship funds for Tuscarawas County students attending The Ohio State University. The event will be held at the Union Country Club in Dover starting one hour prior to kick-off of the Ohio State-Wisconsin game (the game’s start time has yet to be determined). Donation for the event is $25. Reservations are required and can be made by contacting Martha Campbell at 330-340-0390 or to campbell.229@osu.edu by Nov. 11. Special guest for the event will be Nathaniel ‘Nate’ Oliver, linebacker and special teams player for the Ohio State Buckeyes from 2007-2011. “We think it is important to assist the students in Tuscarawas County as they pursue their education at Ohio State,” commented Elizabeth Stephenson, committee chair. “We are fortunate that the Demuth family, the Stokey family and Ohio State Alumni throughout Tuscarawas County have chosen to support these students through their generous donations. This event will enable us to continue these scholarship opportunities into the future.” Donations from the event will go to the following Ohio State University Tuscarawas County scholarship endowments: The Molly B. Demuth Memorial Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships for first-year undergrad students at the Columbus campus who are residents of Tuscarawas County; Tuscarawas County Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships for undergrads from Tuscarawas County and Timothy and Karen Stokey Family Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships for first-year undergrad Dover High grads attending the Columbus campus and is renewable up to one year. Campbell, president of the Ohio State Alumni of Tuscarawas County, noted, “Nate Oliver is an inspirational young man – we are excited that he will be able to join us for this fundraising event.” Oliver graduated from Lakewood St. Edward High School and received a full athletic scholarship to play football at The Ohio State University. He became a four-year letter winner for the Buckeyes and was elected game captain during the 2011 season. He graduated in March 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in science and education and after a brief pursuit of the NFL, decided to concentrate on his talent management company, A&A Management Group, and his college ministry, FIRE for Jesus. Originally from Cleveland, Oliver currently resides in Columbus. A silent auction (featuring items autographed by Coach Urban Meyer, Archie Griffin and Chris Spielman) and a raffle will be held during the event. All donations from the fundraiser will go directly to the scholarship funds. For questions regarding the event, contact Jim Demuth at 330-204-0138, Elizabeth Stephenson at 330-827-2389 or Campbell.
