Smithville Community Historical Society to host Christmas in the Village

Christmas in the Village will be held Saturday, Dec. 4, from 6-8 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 5, from 1:30-4 p.m. All of the buildings will be open and decorated for the season.
On Eberly Drive, near the Smithville Post Office, roast marshmallows in the Pioneer Log Cabin fireplace, sing carols around the Schantz pump organ and enjoy a cup of hot cider in the Sheller Log House. Youngsters can visit with Santa in the Lydo Barn and everyone can get a ride on the Kid Wagon. People will be working in the Tin Shop, the Village Blacksmith Shop, and The Village Pottery.
The Mishler Weaving Mill will be open, including the gift shop. Volunteers will be weaving dish cloths, table runners, place mats, dish towels, and rag rugs. Dont miss the Historic Church of God.
Smithville Community Historical Society will meet Monday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m., in the Historic Church of God, 147 North Milton St. During the business meeting, officers will be elected, and a vote will be taken on a change in the constitution. Sweet Spirit, a ladies quartet, will sing Christmas songs. Members are to bring cookies to share for the refreshments. Beverages will be provided by the officers.
The Orrville Community Band will give a Christmas concert on Saturday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m., in the Historic Church of God. Donations are needed for continued improvements.
