TOPS Nashville shares health tips
On June 18, TOPS OH1573 Nashville had a gain of only half a pound.
Leo Tope was best weekly loser. He said to cut back on desserts.
Lana Rush was best weekly KOPS.
Bonnie Porter was re-elected as leader. She reappointed the present officers and weight recorder.
Porter gave a report from Harvard Medical School titled “How Important Are Whole Grain Foods?” Whole grains use all the nutrients available. Look for labels stating 100% whole grain.
She also read from Bobbie Randall’s article, “Craving a late-night snack? Here’s what your body’s telling you.” Avoid high-calorie snacks after supper. If you crave a snack, drink water or low-calorie milk. Even a low-sugar cereal with low-fat milk will supply tryptophan, which produces serotonin, which is converted into melatonin, inducing sleep.
The club meets at the Nashville Global Methodist Church on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m., with weigh-in at 5 p.m. The first meeting is free.
