Veterans Day observance in Smithville

A Veterans Day observance will be held Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m., in The Historic Church of God, 147 North Milton Street, Smithville. Veterans who served in the various branches of the service will be honored during the program. Pastor O. J. Thompson will present appropriate readings. The congregation will sing two hymns and use the pledge to the American flag and the pledge to the Christian flag. Keith Dunbar will be the speaker and Lowell Frantz is the song leader. Frantz will sing God Bless America as his solo. Members of the 555th Honor Squad will post the flags and the firing squad will later give the gun salute. Captain David Tschantz will play taps prior to the benediction. Ex-service men and women who plan to be present at this Veterans Day observance are asked to meet at the church, at 6:15 p.m., to finalize plans, as the flags of each branch of the military are posted during the program.
