Zoar Harvest Festival to feature Tusc. Co. Art Guild
Recently retired, Martha Buss, a former university professor of Dover, served as a missionary for 26 years. Her first teaching venue was in Costa Rica, then Colombia and Ecuador. For the Tuscarawas County Art Guilds July meeting, Buss shared some of the many colorful artifacts she has collected over the years, such as hand-sculptured wood figurines, a beaded purse, and woven baskets. The guild members also enjoyed her cache of musical instruments.
Diane Lautenschleger, of the New Philadelphia Business and Community Association, spoke on the upcoming August 13 Artists Walk with the theme, Everyones an Artist. The event will feature a variety of talented artists, childrens games, a jazz band, and the New Philadelphia football team participating in a Left Hand - Right Hand drawing exercise. Any interested artist may contact Lautenschleger at 330-602-1419.
Representing Spectrum 7 Studio and Art Gallery, Andrew Marburger, of Bolivar, explained to the Guild how he managed to combine his interest for art and photography with his vocation as an insurance agent. The newly opened American National Property And Casualty Company in Bolivar has set aside an area for a consignment art gallery. Marburgers goal is to bring the many talents of the local artists to the forefront of the area and its local citizens.
