A conflict between house and human

Just recently, the floor of my house and I had a conflict. After tripping over the edge of a rug, I fell sprawling onto our hallway floor, causing a huge mess, mainly on me.
The hallway did suffer a pulled-down coat rack, sending several jackets and a couple of coats flying onto the floor, and a tipped-over umbrella container. That was the extent of the
damage suffered by our hallway.
I, on the other hand, had a bit more damage to deal with. The hallway floor managed to slam me in the face while banging me on my knee. By landing on my head, the metal coat rack avoided damaging the floor. Not surprisingly, that fall left me rather stunned but not seriously injured.
The floor did manage to give me a huge black eye, a sore knee and a cut on my scalp. Scalp cuts do tend to bleed profusely, and in no time, my head was covered in blood along with the hall floor. This scared my family, and to be honest, it scared me too. However, the bleeding was quickly stopped by the application of a cold, wet rag.
Once the bleeding was stopped, things got cleaned up pretty quickly. Except I, of course, was then sent to the ER to have my head, knee and face x-rayed. The tests proved I had suffered no broken bones. Though I had lucked out, I was told to expect to be very sore for the next few days — and I was.
Though that floor/human conflict did no serious lasting damage to either of us, it was a very traumatic event. Both our house and I have fully recovered from the shock of what
happened, but that experience has encouraged me to slow down and always watch where I’m going. I do believe I have learned a lesson.
