Winter weather has lousy timing

Something has irritated Mother Nature to the point she is not happy. And when Mother Nature is unhappy, no one is happy.
The miserably cold temperatures of late ensure our unhappiness and discomfort. Even our dogs were miserable every time they needed to make a potty trip outside. Neither one of them will tolerate the jackets we have provided — silly pups. I will say that when they went outside, they took care of their business with amazing speed. When little dog came back inside, she jumped into the closest lap and demanded to be cuddled, preferably under a cover.
This miserably icy weather descended upon us very quickly. When we went to bed, the outside temp was above freezing. When we woke up the next morning, it was 5 degrees below zero. Not only had the temperatures plummeted, heavy snow had begun to fall, accompanied by very strong wind. Fortunately, our brave house managed to withstand that assault and didn’t even tremble, and our furnace rose to the challenge and kept our house comfortable.
The timing of all this miserable weather’s arrival was spot on for messing up holiday plans. Our poor car huddled in our driveway encased in both ice and snow. Even getting to the car was impossible due to the snow-covered ice on our porch, steps and sidewalk.
It really didn’t matter because we were advised to stay home until the storm moved on. Not being able to gather with family on Christmas Eve was just devastating. Weather-wise on Christmas day, things were a tiny bit better, but it was our first Christmas not surrounded by family. Taller Half was thrilled to learn about FaceTime on our phone, which allowed us to at least see and talk with our children and grandchildren. Perhaps Hugtime on those phones will be invented next.
It has gotten warmer, the wind has lost most of its fury and a new year has begun. Happy New Year everyone!
