Hello everyone! Since this Sunday is Father’s Day, happy Father’s Day to all of you! Randy and I are going to celebrate our dads in our hearts and honor them both sprays of flowers from
our yard.

For this week, I wanted to share a story with you about a man who makes a difference in our world. I asked Melody at our library to help me find some good books to read. This man left me with some food for thought. Joel Salatin is a third generation farmer who works with his family in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley.

The Salatin Polyface Farm is internationally known for innovative pastured livestock and services more than 5,000 families, 10 retail outlets, and 50 restaurants through on-farm sales and metropolitan buying clubs. This also made me think of the Turning a New Leaf study at our Carrollton elementary school. Fifth grade students in two classrooms have been learning about hydroponics. They are comparing growth results regularly from kale, lettuce and other gourmet lettuces and herbs.

Food for thought for you from the author: ‘To me it’s a natural thing to assume that God has a narrow-way principle for a lot of things, and He wants us to search, to ask, to seek and knock, to find that door and go through it. He doesn’t just embrace an anything-goes mentality. He has specific regimens for family, for morality, for finances, for the land and ecology. We in the Christian community should eagerly find and enjoy that template, realizing that in doing so, we create spiritual protocols that eventuate in properly understanding God’s desires.’

Until next time, Happy Father’s Day!

Sherry

Through Biblical stories and scripture, he shows us why it’s more important than ever to look to the good book rather than corporate America when feeding your family and the country.
