Hi kids! I hope you are having a great start to a fun summer!

Since we just finished celebrating our dads, I didn’t want our grandpas to go unnoticed. I had two interesting grandpas. Clyde and Elmer, that’s who they were! They were both very different by nature, but they both had something in common, me!

When I was born, I was a sickly baby. I was born in the state of Maryland. My dad was in the Army, and we lived on an Army base. I needed to live in warmer climate to survive, so my dad was transferred to California! So off we went.

For my first birthday, my four grandparents flew out to California to celebrate me! My mom and dad were thrilled. Once my mom told me that story, I have never forgotten it. Both these men hold a special place in my heart.

Our story is about a Bowhead whale and his love for his grandchild. Bowhead whales are thought to be the longest-lived mammals on the planet. They can live two hundred years or longer. They live in cold Arctic waters. They sound like fun grandpas! They like to slap their tales and flippers on the water’s surface, and sometimes they even leap fully out of the water! Now how fun is that!

Until next time, hang out with your grandpa if you can, you’ll learn a lot from him!

Sherry
