Fifty ways to leave your clutter and love your life

                        
1) Hang seasonal items from garage ceiling. 2) Remove broken furniture immediately. 3) Call trash removal to pick up broken appliances. 4) Avoid storing furniture for friends and family. 5) Keep a garbage can close to where you park your car. 6) Keep a car cleaning kit handy in the garage. 7) Containerize sporting equipment. 8) Do not allow junk mail in your house. 9) Shred all unwanted mail at the door. 10) Request e-bills to further reduce incoming mail. 11) Give each family member an inbox for their mail and important papers. 12) Designate one outbox by the door. 13) Keep a message center by the door. 14) Stock with pen and post-it notes. 15) Arrange a convenient spot for keys and sunglasses. 16) Stash a bin by the door for kicked off shoes. 17) Invest in an over the door shoe sorter for all the rest. 18) Make it easy to hang up coats, either with coat racks, extra hooks in the closet, or slip-free hangers. 19) Make adequate room to drop backpacks, purses, briefcases. 20) Discard old phone books, newspapers, magazines. 21) Clip coupons and slide into photo brag books by the door for easy grab and go. 22) Maintain a master calendar. 23) Create a bill paying station stocked with calculator, highlighter, stapler, envelopes, etc. 24) Create a homework area. 25) Donate excess books that you will not reread and no longer need as a resource. 26) Designate a bin for separating library books. 27) Gather all photos in one place and sort chronologically and by category. 28) Keep CDs together near stereo. 29) Keep DVDs together near TV. 30) Alphabetize for easy access and donate anything you no longer care for or use. 31) Designate a Saturday box in which family members’ items that are left out are deposited until Saturday. 32) Require family members to purchase or work for Saturday box items to encourage better stewardship. 33) Become acquainted with online sites to sell dusty collections. 34) Rotate children’s toys by either storing a bin full or swapping with another family for a month or two. 35) Throw away holey and mismatched socks or designate for dust mits. 36) Donate clothing you have not worn last season. 37) Get rid of ill fitting clothing. 38) Repair torn clothing. 39) Add extra shelves at top of closets to utilize dead space. 40) Take inventory of linens and eliminate stained, torn items in disrepair. 41) Discard old prescriptions. 42) Sort makeup and nail polish to discard anything cracked or dried out. 43) Donate extra beauty appliances that you no longer use. 44) Throw away questionable food items in fridge. 45) Skip a trip to the grocery store and try to live off of the canned goods already in the pantry. 46) Evaluate usefulness of seasonal or special use appliances and utensils to determine whether each is worthy of storing. 47) Eliminate unnecessary duplicates of pans, dishes, cutlery, and other utensils. 48) Clean out cupboards and drawers with hot, soapy water and only put back what you actually use. 49) Store items in cupboards and drawers near where you complete each kitchen task, that is, towels by the sink, pans by the stove, etc. 50) Get rid of cookbooks you do not use.
