Hi kids! Since we were able to highlight our moms a couple of weeks ago, I didn’t think it would be fair to leave out our grandmas! I think this story is too fun! Grandma’s Purse is the title. After I read our story, it reminded me of one of my grandmas. Her name was Edna. I called her grandma Mathney. She was my mom’s mom. My grandpa’s name was Elmer. I called him grandpa Mathney. He was my mom’s dad. We had a lot of fun together when I was a kid. My grandpa passed away when I was seven. They didn’t live very far away from our house and my grandma became very lonely. Soon, she began to come over to our house more and more.

Grandma Mathney always carried a HUGE purse. For the most part, it was full of Kleenex, candy, and gum! It seemed liked she also had plenty of pencils and pens available, but I don’t remember any paper. And... I do remember her having plenty of change in her change purse. Whenever we went to the store, her and my grandpa would buy me a book. They were called Golden Books. Each one was a different story. I had a great selection of stories that I kept in a drawer in our kitchen at my parent’s house. When I got old enough to read, I would sit on the floor and read out loud to my mom as she washed the dishes. She never grew tired of hearing my stories. And my grandma never tired of buying me those books.

Until next time, what do you love about your grandmas?

Sherry
