Previously I wrote from Pauls prayer in Ephesians 1, stating we need the eyes of our understanding enlightened to know how good God really is. Now I want to emphasize another amazing part of that prayer.
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know
what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe.Ephesians 1:17-19
Read that over again. I have been meditating on that last verse all week. He prays for us to know the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe. Isnt that exciting? Yes folks, that is in the Bible, the inspired Word of God. I am not making this up. Paul, through the Holy Spirit, wants us to start grasping Gods incredible power that is available to us who believe.
Another version calls it His incomparably great power toward us who believe. I really like that description. It means this power is so great, nothing can compare to it.
Ephesians 1:19-23 continues: According to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
Did you get that? It says that the power we have as believers is the same power that raised Jesus from the dead. There is no power greater than that, and it is available to all of us who believe. The problem is that too few people know about and believe in this power. We go around with the attitude of Gods got all the power, and Ive got none. Instead, we should have the attitude of Gods got all the power and He lives in me, making me the vessel that this power flows through! Like I said in my last article, God wants us to continue doing the things that Jesus did while on earth, and we are His body to fulfill that.
We need to enlarge our vision and start believing big. Start meditating on this amazing power that is available to us who believe. God is the power source, no doubt about that. It is not our power; it is His power in us. And it isnt because we are so great, it is because He is so great. When we believe in this power its like we flip the switch that activates it, making it flow through us. What is sad to me is that this incredible power is available to all who believe, but few actually flip the switch. I pray for believers everywhere to understand this power and believe in it, using it to help people and further the kingdom of God.
If we have the same power that raised Jesus from the dead inside of each of us who believe, there is no sickness or disease that can hold a candle to that power. Really, think about that. Think of the incredible power it took to raise Jesus from the dead. That power is far greater than cancer or any other sickness. The name of Jesus and His power towards us is far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is namedEphesians 1:21. If your sickness has a name, the name of Jesus and His power in us is greater.
Oh, how I pray for people to get this. We need to stop walking around as defeated, powerless beings and start walking around as victorious warriors of Jesus Christ. We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us (Romans 8:37). He who is in me is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). To Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all we ask or think, according to the power that is at work within us (Ephesians 3:20, emphasis my own).
Father, I pray for each person reading this as well as myself. Help our eyes to be enlightened to know your incomparably great power toward us who believe! Thank you Jesus!
