Have you recovered from the Thanksgiving food coma? Are the leftovers all gone (or at least safely frozen) by now? Have you started in on your holiday baking and treat making? Are there any little hands that like to help you in the kitchen?
Do you think they would enjoy coming to a cooking program with us? In two weeks all the kiddos will be out of school on holiday break for more than two weeks. I know some families travel during the holidays, but sometimes you need new ideas to keep them entertained. We’re it.
Kids in the Kitchen lets kids age 8-12 cook in small groups under adult supervision. We’ve been doing a summer program for several years, and this year we’re adding a holiday edition. Between Christmas and New Year’s, we’re offering three different sessions of Kids in the Kitchen Holiday Edition: Dec. 27 from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. and Dec. 30 from 9 a.m. to noon.
We’ll make fun party foods to share with family and friends. On the menu: homemade cheeseball, hot Swiss almond spread, s’mores snack mix and churro crackers. Each group will make one batch of each recipe and then share it to take home.
This three-hour program is open to youth age 8-12 and costs $10 per child. The program will be held in the Love Center’s community room, 1291 state Route 241, Millersburg. Each session is limited to 15 students. Preregistration is required. Call the OSU Extension at 330-674-3015 or visit us at 111 E. Jackson St. to register. Registration flyer can be found on our Facebook and website.
