We all need a little bit of motivation

“Either you run the day or the day runs you.”
—Jim Rohn
Have you ever had a day when it seems you should have stayed in bed? It seems like all 8 billion people on Earth are against you. We may as well give up while we are behind.
From time to time, we feel like all we can do is give up. For some people, giving up is a part of who they are. They never stick it out when trouble comes their way. They surrender to it.
I have never gotten along very well with people who give up too easily. Sometimes when I am around people who give up quickly, I often wonder why they never really try in the first place. Maybe it is because of my cerebral palsy that I never give up too easily. I have had to give up some things, but I really needed to try it first.
I once asked my mom, “Who taught me not to give up?” She said something to the effect that no one taught me; that was just who I am. I also am the kind of person who questions myself sometimes, as to why I just don’t give up.
It can be extremely hard to stay motivated, especially during the most difficult times in life. I always thought if something is worthwhile, it would be difficult. That might be a saying to motivate us — if it’s not very difficult, it’s probably not worthwhile. If everything would be easy, then everyone and their brother would do it.
Find what you are passionate about. It is easy to stay motivated when you are passionate about what you are doing. Time seems to fly by because you are so engulfed in what you are doing. No one likes to go to a job they hate, so find a way to find pride in what you are good at.
It has been 13 years since I had just one job. I’ve been working two and sometimes three jobs. Why? Because I enjoy writing and helping people see the good in their life. Helping others is what really motivates me to put out these columns.
